The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has outlined the key requirements candidates must meet before registering for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry (DE) registration officially commenced on Monday, February 3.

According to JAMB, every candidate must possess a valid National Identification Number (NIN), which is now mandatory for UTME and DE registration.

“Candidates are required to generate a JAMB Profile Code by sending an SMS with “NIN [space] 11-digit NIN number” to 55019 or 66019.”

The board explained that this code would be used to purchase the JAMB ePIN from authorised banks, online platforms, and USSD services before proceeding to any of the examination board’s accredited CBT centre for registration.

“Candidates applying for UTME must have a minimum of five credit passes in their O’Level results (WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, or GCE), including Mathematics and English Language, in not more than two sittings,” JAMB stated.

In addition, JAMB emphasised that those using awaiting results can apply but must upload their results before admission processing begins.

For direct entry (DE) candidates, JAMB also has specified that applicants must possess an ND, NCE, IJMB, or equivalent qualification from a recognised institution.

Besides, the board said that candidates must provide their academic transcripts and other supporting documents to validate their eligibility.

JAMB also confirmed that the 2025 registration fee remains ₦7,200 for UTME (without Mock-UTME), ₦8,200 for UTME (with Mock-UTME), and ₦5,700 for direct entry (DE) registration.

The board advised all candidates to complete their registration only at JAMB-accredited CBT centres to avoid fraudulent registration services. Candidates are also required to obtain and study “The Lekki Headmaster” by Kabir Garba, the official JAMB 2025 recommended novel for the Use of English examination.

Meanwhile, JAMB FCT, Abuja holds a round table to prepare staff for 2025 UTME registration. The board also emphasised that early registration is crucial to avoid technical issues and delays.

“Candidates will be able to reprint their examination slips starting from April 18, 2025, to check their examination date, time, and venue.

The mock UTME is scheduled for April 5, 2025, while the main UTME will be conducted between April 25 and May 5, 2025,” the statement read.

The tertiary entrance examination umpire board encourages candidates and parents to visit the official JAMB website for further information and updates.
