The Kaduna State Police Command has dismissed social media reports suggesting a security threat during President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recent visit to the state, clarifying that the individual involved was mentally unstable and posed no danger.

The clarification follows a viral video showing a man breaching a security barricade at the Murtala Square during the President’s official engagement. According to a statement by the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan, the man, identified as Umar Mohammed from Unguwan Mu’azu, is known to have psychiatric issues and acted purely out of emotional excitement.

“He expressed a deep desire to meet the President and Governor and acted impulsively. He was swiftly intercepted by security personnel, found unarmed, and is now under medical supervision,” Hassan stated.

The police warned against spreading misinformation, noting that the video circulating online had been manipulated to cause panic. The Command urged citizens to disregard sensational claims and support security agencies in preserving public peace.

Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Muhammad, emphasized that investigations are ongoing and that anyone found culpable of spreading falsehoods will be prosecuted.
