Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has said the crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is deeper than the personality of its 2023 presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, stressing that ego battles among party stakeholders are at the heart of the problem.
Speaking during a media parley with journalists in Gusau on Wednesday, Governor Lawal stated that the ongoing turbulence in the PDP was not the fault of one person alone.
“Everybody has their own issue; it’s not just about Atiku Abubakar; it’s beyond him,” Lawal said.
According to the governor, the crisis in the party is largely internal and fuelled by personal interests and rivalries.
“It’s an internal problem within the PDP, and we are making a conscious effort. I think it’s about people’s egos — everybody, no exception,” he added.
When asked if he was also part of those contributing to the ego-driven tension within the party, the governor responded frankly: “Yes.”
