The political atmosphere in Osun State is steadily gaining momentum as the 2026 governorship election draws nearer, with key stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) intensifying consultations across the state.

As part of his ongoing strategic engagements, Senator Mudashiru Oyetunde Husain, a prominent figure in Osun politics, on monday paid a courtesy visit to elder statesman and APC chieftain, Alhaji Shuaib Afolabi Oyedokun.

The meeting, which was held at the private residence of Baba Oyedokun, was conducted in a warm and cordial atmosphere, reflecting deep mutual respect and shared commitment to the future of Osun State.

In recent weeks, various support groups across the state including Osun Progressives Union (OPU) have been mounting pressure on Senator Husain to declare his interest in the 2026 governorship race, citing his wealth of experience, unwavering loyalty to the progressive cause, and consistent record of service to the people.

Campaign materials bearing the slogan “Irorun De” (Ease Has Come) have also flooded social media platforms, further heightening public anticipation of his formal entry into the race.

Speaking after the visit, Senator Husain emphasized the importance of wide consultations and collective input as the state approaches another critical political transition.

“This is a period for deep consultation and collective reflection. Our state deserves steady hands, experience, and sincere leadership. I am committed to listening to our leaders, our people, and to God’s guidance as we prepare for the tasks ahead,” he said.
