The Lagos State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Olumide Oluyinka, explained that the the building in the Ojodu-Berger area of the state collapsed on Saturday because it was abandoned, without plastering for a long time which likely weakened over time by moisture.
He emphasized that the area was unsuitable for the commercial activities taking place beneath it.
