The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has described the announcement by the Omoluabi Progressives, a group led by former Governor Rauf Aregbesola, to leave the party as ineffective and akin to “good riddance to bad rubbish.”

In a statement issued by its Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, the APC dismissed the group’s announcement as redundant, noting that many of its members had already been expelled or suspended from the party.

The statement read:

“How can anyone who has been suspended or expelled announce their resignation again? Is that not an example of redundancy and irrelevance?

We in the Osun State APC are glad to part ways with political irritants and deviants who had long left the party in spirit and action, particularly before the 2022 governorship election.

“You cannot claim to belong to our party while consistently working against its interests. These individuals have been agents of the PDP in Osun State, serving the ruling party in disguise.

“Looking back, it is clear that the hand is proverbially that of Jacob, while the voice is that of Esau. We are prepared to counter the antics of these political renegades.

“The so-called Omoluabi Progressives, who believe they are more progressive than the true founders of the progressive movement, have shown a lack of respect for their elders and political benefactors.

“We are not concerned about the actions of frustrated and irrelevant politicians who effectively left the party three years ago after their attempts to destabilize and hijack it failed.

“Their recent announcement of forming or joining another party signals the beginning of their political downfall, which will culminate in their complete irrelevance by the 2026 governorship election.

“The blindfolded followers of this ill-fated group will soon regret being part of this charade.

“Osun APC continues to grow stronger every day. Our message to the Omoluabi Progressives is simple: whoever wishes to bury his elder brother nakedly should be prepared to show his younger brother the same fate at the end of his journey in life.”
