Fubara also honoured the sacrifices of the nation’s founding fathers, acknowledging their dedication to the country’s unity and progress.

The governor, in his speech during the 64th Independence Anniversary Celebration at Government House, Port Harcourt, said despite the ongoing socio-economic challenges, the citizens still have reasons to celebrate.

He also urged the people to work with the government towards economic recovery.

Fubara hailed President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms, encouraging other governors to redouble efforts to fight banditry in the North and pipeline vandalism in the South, identifying such efforts as crucial steps towards revitalizing the nation’s economy.

Fubara equally reaffirmed his commitment to delivering good governance in Rivers State, highlighting achievements in human capital development and infrastructure projects across all sectors.

He commended the state’s security agencies for their role in maintaining internal peace and expressed gratitude to the people of Rivers State for their continued support for his administration.

He assured that his administration would not bow to lies and blackmail.

The ceremony concluded with Fubara performing the symbolic release of the peace pigeons, signifying the state’s hope for lasting peace and progress.
