Within the last couple of days, Nigeria has witnessed multiple protests orchestrated to destabilise the nation and delegitimise President Tinubu’s administration. Motivated by the vested interests of the losers in the 2023 presidential elections and fanned by a few unpatriotic elements resident in Finland and the United States, these protests sought to capitalise on challenges facing the country for their selfish gains.

The Nigerian populace showed commendable resilience and discernment by shrugging off such manipulative tactics and standing firmly in support of the current administration.

These protests, calculated to force regime change through the back door, have emerged as a woeful failure that has left their instigators with not just egg on their faces but a reprehensible dose of humiliation.
Some people had hewed false narratives, all to obscure the path to sterling achievements that the Bola Tinubu administration has made, which, no doubt, has achieved considerable strides in many areas. Indeed, from recent reports, the administration has significantly improved economic stability, with foreign reserves rising from $34 billion to $37 billion. The minimum wage has grown from N30,000 to N70,000, giving succour to workers in the country. The ways and means debt reduced from N27 trillion to N16 trillion, underpinning the administration’s continuous show of fiscal responsibility and commitment to sustainable economic policies.

Moreover, the government’s success in clearing the $7 billion forex backlog and increasing oil production from 900,000 barrels per day to 1.6 million bpd underpins its seriousness about getting the economy back on track. The debt-to-revenue ratio has also improved from 97 per cent to 64 per cent, showing a significant improvement in financial management based on a solid outlook for the economy.

While these achievements are commendable, the tragic loss of life cannot be overlooked. The families and loved ones of those who have lost their lives deserve our deepest condolences. It is of paramount importance that the Nigeria Police and security agencies get to the root of things to identify and bring to book all those behind the incitement of violence and destruction of property. This cannot be accepted, as such actions damage the peace and stability of our nation.

Ultimately, the thwarted attempts to destabilise Nigeria are a powerful reminder of our national strength and unity. As we move forward, it is imperative that we continue to uphold the principles of democracy and progress, rejecting chaos and deceit. More than ever, we need to engage in dialogue, collaborative actions, and maintain faith in the leadership to address grievances and pave the way for a brighter future for all Nigerians.

Indeed, we have challenges, but guided by determination and unity, Nigeria will undoubtedly hit its peak under the leadership of its people-oriented President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.
