Niger State Police Command has declared untrue a report in some online media about the loss of six lives during the violent protest in Tafa/Suleja area of Niger State on Thursday.

The command stated this late in the evening on Thursday in a Press statement issued and made available by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun.

Abiodun stressed that the Command, therefore, reemphasized as earlier stated that violent miscreants stormed the Tafa Local Government Council Secretariat, looted, vandalized and partly set the building ablaze, vehicles were damaged and burnt, while security agencies responded, made arrest and dispersed the hoodlums.

He further stated that during the process, there was no loss of life, and there was no report of such as protesters were dispersed with the use of minimum force, also highlighting mild injuries sustained by some miscreants during stampede whilst most of them were taken to different nearby medical facilities for treatment.

The statement revealed that normalcy has been restored in the area, while monitoring continues with security agencies on standby to forestall breakdown of law and order.
