The first-class monarch, who ascended the throne in 1976, passed on after a brief illness in the ancient kingdom.

The death of the monarch was disclosed by the Lisa of Idanre, who is also the traditional Prime Minister of the hilly kingdom, High Chief Christopher Akindolire.

Meanwhile, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has commiserated with the people of Idanre over the passing of the revered monarch.

Aiyedatiwa, in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan, described the passing of the monarch as a monumental loss to the Idanre community, the state, and Yorubaland, stating that the late Oba Aroloye was one of the most respected monarchs in Nigeria during his reign.

He also described him as a lover of peace.

On his part, the governorship candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Gbenga Edema, stated that the impact the late monarch had on the development and cultural heritage of Idanre will remain indelible.

Edema, who described the late Oba Aroloye as a beacon of positive change in the hilly community, stated that remarkable progress and transformative initiatives were witnessed during his reign.

“His reign was marked by progress, innovation, and a deep-seated love for the traditions of Idanre.”

“Oba Aroloye’s dedication to preserving the culture and heritage of Idanre has left an indelible mark on the community.

“His passion for the well-being of his subjects has endeared him to the hearts of many.”
