President Bola Tinubu has stepped down as Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State, following the expiration of his tenure today. The Nigerian leader is set to hand over the leadership baton to another head of state. It was gathered that the organization is currently holding its 65th Ordinary Session of the Authority in Abuja. Initially, he took a strong stance against unconstitutional changes in Niger Republic, Burkina Faso, Mali, and Guinea, leading to the imposition of sanctions. However, ECOWAS later adopted a more peaceful approach, resulting in the lifting of sanctions.
