According to the Islamic clerics, the minister is unfit to serve in her capacity as they accused her of blackmail for saying they are trying to force underage girls into marriage. Imams in Niger state have called the immediate sack of Uju Kennedy Ohanenye, the Minister of Women Affairs, Kayode Egbetokun and filed a lawsuit against the speaker of Niger state house of assembly, Abdulmalik Sarkindaji over plans to sponsor the weddings of 100 orphan girls. Speaking after an emergency meeting on Wednesday, May 15, the Imams accused the minister of threatening the speaker. They also asked her to tender an apology within seven days or face a lawsuit.  According to the Islamic clerics, the minister is unfit to serve in her capacity as they accused her of blackmail for saying they are trying to force underage girls into marriage.
