The victim was said to have travelled home in preparation for this year’s farming when the incident happened.

The victim’s younger brother, Barnabas, confirmed the incident to The PUNCH on Wednesday.

According to him, the victim, a former NULGE Chairman in the Kauru Local Government Area and currently a trustee at the state level, visited his home on Sunday to clear the land in preparation for this year’s farming.

My elder brother went to his farm, which is not more than 200km from our family house, and discovered that cows entered one of his farms and ate beans. He approached the boy only to be attacked.

“Their target was to behead him, but he used his hand to shield his head. As a result, his arm was chopped off,” he said.

Barnabas told our correspondent that that was not the first time the herdsman would do something like that in the community.

He said two people were similarly attacked last year.

“His father personally took him to the Divisional Police Station in the Damakasuwa, Kauru Local Government Area.

“As we speak, my brother has been bleeding profusely since yesterday (Tuesday); we have been referred to another hospital in Kaduna,” Barnabas added.

The spokesperson for the state’s police command, ASP Mansir Hassan, did not respond to calls and text messages sent to him by our correspondent.
