Oyo State’s local government elections are currently underway, with the Chairman of the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC), Aare Isiaka OLAGUNJI, actively monitoring the electoral process.

In an effort to ensure a free and fair election, OLAGUNJI visited Ward 11, Unit 1 of the Ibadan North West Local Government Area, accompanied by the Joint Task Force (JTF), as reported by The Reflector Newspaper.

During his visit, OLAGUNJI addressed the press and expressed satisfaction with the overall conduct of the elections. He confirmed that, despite some initial hiccups, the process has been running smoothly, crediting the dedication and vigilance of OYSIEC staff members. He also shared that he has dispatched personnel to address any issues related to material distribution in order to further streamline the voting process.

In addition to OLAGUNJI’s remarks, Commissioner of Police Adebowale Hazmat commended the security atmosphere in Ibadan and its surrounding areas. He noted that the elections have been proceeding peacefully and without significant disruptions. The collaborative efforts of OYSIEC, the JTF, and local authorities have contributed to maintaining a secure environment for citizens to exercise their democratic rights.

While the elections have encountered some challenges, such as delays in material distribution, the commitment of election officials and local leaders to ensuring a credible and transparent process is evident.
