It is no longer news that the Osun State Government under the leadership of His Excellency, Senator Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke has graciously earmarked the rehabilitation of 1.5  kilometres roads each in Oriade and Obokun Local Government Areas (the two largest Local Government Areas out of the (4) Odo-Otin and Ejigbo) in 2024 Fiscal year and hundreds in Ede / Egbedore / Ejigbo and Osun West Senatorial Districts. However, while we appreciate this we would like to state unequivocally that we have not been well looked after in Ijesa North.

Even in governance, government should be seen to have evenly distributed or shared dividends of democracy. A Government that tilts every developmental agenda and infrastructural moves only to the confines of its  drivers cannot continue to enjoy patronages and support of the areas that are skewed against in the common patrimony of the state or Local Government.

This is the state of affairs in Osun State now. The 2024 appropriation  seems to be that of tortoisic servitude for people of Obokun  and Oriade Local Government Councils . Osun State Government needs to halt these imbalances and overt marginalization of other districts outside Osun West. This is not in tandem with the Federal Character Act and it even denigrates sanity, sensibility, and humanity. We all voted for the current government and should have equal stakes in this state.

It’s disheartening to note that / Federal Constituency only a 3 , 100 . Aside from Ejigbo, none of these Local Government Areas is closer to Obokun not to mention Oriade in landmass and population.

This is servitude for crying out loud. This is partiality and nothing but nepotism and cronyism combined. With due respect, the Governor’s decision is voracious, devoid of logic, and unknown to any sharing formula or sensibility. We think that this agenda has a sinister motive and it must be discarded to its roots on time.

One of the most basic themes in ethics is fairness, which was stated this way by Aristotle: “Equals should be treated equally and unequal unequally.”

An unknown philosophy is being taught by the Ademola Adeleke-led administration. A government cannot continue to allocate more to its confines and political enclaves and expect the masses especially the marginalized to keep patting such Administration on the shoulder. The worst is, that a bad precedence is being laid as successors may find a common ground to socialise this as a norm.

A visit to Ipetu-Ijesa, Ibokun, Esa-Oke, Erin-Oke,Ilare,Ilase and other towns and settlements will leave one with sour feelings. Obokun/Oriade  cannot continue to be treated like lepers at the dinning. The state belongs to all of us. How could such an heinous budget get the nods of our State Assemblymen?

At this point, it is needless to say the two (2) Honourable members of the Parliament representing us at Abeere have committed a huge disservice to us. The question regularly asked by every concerned member of the constituency is “Could this be how they intended to repay our generosity and gesture of goodwill for voting them to office by keeping silent in the face of unfairness?” Perhaps this is not the way they plan to serve us, then, both of them will have a lot of explanations to make.

Barr. Kanmi Ajibola appeared to be very vibrant at calling out the Government’s demeanor until now. It is still very fresh in our memories how you were always in court challenging Aregbesola’s draconian and unpopular policies. What happens to your truculence in criticism? The Aregbesola administration that you fought tooth and nail was never this low in terms of equity or bias at sharing of the State patrimony. He did more even for Osun Central and Osun West than his Osun East home. We are watching your actions and inactions!

Hon. Adeyemi Irekandu, please be reminded that “home will always be home.” The whole internal township roads in Otan, Ilare, Esa-Oke, Eti-Oni, and the rest are not smiling at all and that budget of servitude was sentenced against your people in silence. Even snails will sigh! This is not acceptable. We cannot continue to keep silent in the face of sheer totalitarian government that is bent on sweeping us away. Your silence is not golden and a word they say is enough for the wise!

This administration should read from history and understand that, “Table turns and no empire lasts for eternity”. The story of the immediate past governor of the state, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, fortunately, a serving Minister in President Tinubu’s cabinet is a recent memoir you can read from. The Emperor and Empress should learn that everything that surely has a beginning surely has an ending.

Only God rules in the affair of men and He is at the poll waiting for all of us! Also, we must remind ourselves that 2026 is nigh! It will soon be here. We are stating this so that the drivers of policies in Bola Ige White House in Abeere can retrace their steps and stop progressing in errors too many times.

The Ijesa people, especially the constituents of Ijesa North love this government. We have always supported H.E Governor Nurudeen Adeleke with every available resource God has given us but he has constantly deprived us of the dividends of democracy for no good reason. The truth is we have staked so much in the birth of the administration and cannot sit back and watch the baby of our sweat wobbling into an irredeemable desert of derision.

We call on His Excellency, Sen. Ademola Adeleke to dismantle these barriers to even development and promote fairness and inclusivity in the state. Addressing these systemic challenges is essential for creating a more just and equitable world for all Osun people. That is the dream, yes, the belief of our forebearers!

In conclusion, we appreciate and commend the efforts of His Excellency Sen. Ademola Adeleke for the prompt and continued payment of worker’s salaries in the state (Pensioners inclusive). We also thank him for the appointments of Commissioners, SSA(s), and SA(s) from our clime but His Excellency should be reminded that a lot has to be done in the aspect of project deliveries for our people to really see him as the man they loved and actually voted for. Also, HE the governor should note that equal allocation of the state’s resources without any form of prepossession is the best way the government’s benevolence could be best felt or, trickle down as many are not on the state’s payroll or related to the political appointees.

We chose to speak now. It is our destiny!. A close mouth is a close destiny!!
