The family of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has identified those preventing the release of the Biafra agitator.

Kanunta, the younger brother of the IPOB leader, said Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State and some of his friends in the Southeast are “blocking” Kanu’s release.

In a post on X, Kanunta wondered why President Bola Tinubu allowed Uzodinma to block Kanu’s release.

According to Kanunta: “@Govhopeuzodinma is the one blocking the release of #MaziNnamdiKanu from DSS dungeon with few of his friends in SE and my question to @officialABAT is Gov Uzodinma the president of Nigeria or is your government benefitting from the insecurity in SE through your security chiefs?”

Kanu has been locked up by the Department of State Services, DSS, on the orders of the Nigerian government.

He has been incarcerated since 2021 following his arrest in Kenya and extraordinary rendition to Nigeria.

Following his return to Nigeria, the appeal court had discharged and acquitted the IPOB leader of all charges levelled against him by the Nigerian government.

However, the Supreme Court upturned the judgment while ordering the Federal High Court to revisit the trial.
