Contrary to the insinuation making the round that Nigeria President, Muhammadu Buhari could have returned due to pressure mounted on him by the newly emerged group, #ourmunmudondo and others who were against his long sojourn in the United Kingdom where he received medical attention, The President’s home coming probably has to do with national security and peaceful co-existence of the country.

Our Newspapers reliably gathered that, President Muhammadu Buhari’s return was precipitated on the need to take the country back from what our source “described as agents of destabilisation”. A source who spoke to the Reflector Newspaper anonymously said though the country is going well but seems the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo’s methods of carrying the country along is not totally all well with Buhari’s inner cabinet who briefed him on happenings in the villa on daily basis.

The source said, left for Buhari, Prof Osinbajo was doing a good job but with daily reports of lapses in the way the legal luminary has been managing the ethnic jingoist to Buhari, he (Buhari) becomes uncomfortable with the situation.

“Buhari is happy with Osinbajo, in fact, he appreciated him for the good job he has done. But was uncomfortable with the way he has managed the separatists in the country, he want him to be hard at them so as not to plunge the country in any type of unrest as we have in Boko Haram today”, say the source.

Buhari’s position can be seen clearly from his address to Nigerians on the first day of his resumption after 203 days in the United Kingdom. In the speech, he had made it clear that the “unity of Nigeria is negotiable”while sending a very strong signal to ethnic and regional movements about the co-existence of the country.

Unfortunately, many Nigerians were disappointed and let down over the speech as it failed to address the issues that really affect common men. For example, the speech was silent on the economic recovery and the fight against corruption.

“Well, the speech was silent on the economy and fight against corruption because president Buhari has trusted the economy into the hand of his deputy, and to be sincere, the man is doing well, so what do you want him to say again? the source queried.

Also, in a chat with The Reflector Newspaper, the Spokesperson of the Forum for Good Governance and Probity (FGGP), A London based advocacy group, Mr Adeola Jegede described the coming of the President Buhari as timely but expressed suck over total silence of the President on the economy which he believed should be his main focus as the nation’s youth are increasingly becoming jobless due to policy of the administration and largely to fall in the price of oil.

“I don’t care why he rushed back home, to me, he has done well by returning back to his country to continue his job, but I expected him to say something about the economy, this is germane to the nation building, we have again be let down as usual.

“The rhetoric over separatists will only heighten the tension, which is the mistake our President keep making, he need to ignore them, deal with them silently and concentrate on delivering on campaign promises which Nigerians are eagerly expecting, says Jegede.

Whatever may be the reason behind the return of President Buhari, he now seem fit and look better. Would he again return to London for medical treatment? Time will tell.
