Declaring the exercise open, the National Chairman of the party, Dr. Yunusa Tanko, preached transparency and urged delegates to vote their consciences, insisting that what the party is doing is laying strong foundation for a new direction in Anambra politics, saying that the two aspirants having passed all requirements, have all it takes to lead the state.

Speaking, the State Chairman of the party, Sir Peter Okala extolled the aspirants highly too, and was particularly happy with the way they had gone about their campaigns at the party level, which showed a lot of maturity and something different from what is obtainable in some political parties.

Having been duly elected and declared winner, Engineer Chinedu Okpalamma, in acceptance promised to run a campaign strictly based on issues over mudslinging or name calling.

He pointed out that he will unveil his campaign strategy and manifesto in the coming days, stressing that he is not in the race just to have a ticket, but is determined to put up a campaign never seen before in the state and would deliver the party in the November eighteen election in the State.

The Party flag was later handed over to the NCP gubernatorial candidate, Engineer Chinedu Okpalamma, by the party’s National Chairman.
