At the flag of the event, Governor Umar Ganduje said the beneficiaries would be given cash and other valuable materials after the training, to improve their lives as well as employ and train others.

“The State government attaches so much importance in the programme because at the end, the beneficiaries will be self-employed, self-reliant thereby improving their economic capacity and the development of the State and the entire nation,” the Governor said.

He said women should not be left out in the wheel of progress of the nation and that Kano woukd continue to encourage women to make them meaningful in the society.

”Kano State has injected over 101.8 million Naira in the empowerment programme… I will personally embark on an inspection tour of the three training centers in the senatorial districts so as to serves as a morale booster for the trainee women,” he said.

Governor Ganduje explained that already all the 44 local government Chairmen in the State have been directed to record the various trades engaged upon by women to have a clear cut census. This he said would enable the State government to support them in various ways.

The State commissioner for Women Affairs and Social development, Yardada Maikano Bichi said that “the empowerment programme was designed to improve their living standards.”

Yardada commended governor Ganduje for his foresight of empowering and also training women in various skill acquisitions such as petty trading, local delicacies, cosmetic making and other entrepreneurship programme that would make them useful in the society.

Already, the State government has embarked on aggressive campaign for the enrollment of women in schools.
