The State Commissioner of Police Mr Buba Umar, has warned miscreants not to take advantage of the APC primary election holding today in Awka to cause trouble in the State.
Speaking during a meeting with APC Governorship aspirants at the Police Headquarters in Amawbia, Commissioner Umar, said the Command is ready and well equipped to maintain law and order throughout the exercise.
The Police Commissioner said the Command had information that some aspirants imported and lodged thugs in various hotels and made it clear that they are already tracking the thugs and would soon get them arrested.
He stressed that only delegates who are lawfully accredited and confirmed by the Chairman of the Primary Election Panel, would be allowed inside the venue and cautioned those who are not delegates to keep off the area.
He said that the police have enough men to secure the venue and protect the aspirants and delegates.
The Chairman of the Election panel and Governor of Borno State, Alhaji Kashim Shettima assured that they would provide a level playing ground for all the aspirants and made it clear that there was no anointed aspirant by the party’s hierarchy.
