You Need To Resign, Fani-Kayode Tells Buhari

A former Minister of Aviation, Mr Femi Fani-Kayode, has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to resign as a birthday gift to Nigerians.

Before calling for his resignation, the former minister, however, congratulated the President on his 75th birthday.

Fani-Kayode, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is seen by many as one of President Buhari’s critics since his party lost to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2015 elections.

Meanwhile, Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State has put away his political variation with the President to congratulate him on his 75th birthday.

The governor also commended the progress made so far by the President in moving Nigeria forward, saying he believes he would do more in good health.

He also called on Nigerians to pray for President Buhari and prayed that God spares his life for the country.

Senate President Bukola Saraki and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr Yakubu Dogara, also sent congratulatory messages to the President.

While Saraki wished him the blessings of the Almighty and continued wisdom and grace to celebrate another year, Dogara hailed him for his leadership.

Boko Haram: PDP Blasts FG Over $1bn ECA Withdrawal

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Sunday accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) led government of trying to evade issues arising from its plan to disburse $1bn to battle insurgency.

The party described as inexcusable, moves
by the APC Federal Government to divert attention from its attempt to pilfer $1bn from the Excess Crude Account (ECA) to finance partisan activities.

The PDP, which insisted that the Federal Government must address the issue, noted that “the attempt by the APC Federal Government to divert
attention from the fraud, by resorting to unsubstantiated allegations against the PDP only reinforces its manipulative tendencies and arrogant spurn to the sensibilities of Nigerians.”

PDP National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan in a statement on Sunday also challenged the Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, to substantiate his claims that the PDP was rebranding with stolen money.

Ologbondiyan said “such wild allegation was only intended to divert public attention from the heavy sleazes under the current
administration, the latest being the moves to use the fight against terrorism as a conduit to siphon public funds for partisan purposes”.

“The Federal Government has failed to address issues raised by the PDP and majority of Nigerians, including APC members, who can not fathom how this administration would want to expend N365bn on fighting insurgents it claimed had been technically defeated.

“It is indeed appalling that rather than being remorseful, the APC Federal Government has renewed its wild allegations and cheap blackmail against the PDP.

“It is a clear to all that the PDP do not have access to public funds and cannot be rebranding with stolen money. Instead, we are rebranding on the grace of the general goodwill of Nigerians who have suffered untold hardships in close to three years of APC government.

“While we understand the nervousness of the APC Federal Government over our rebranding and the renewed popularity of the PDP, which has signaled their inevitable death knell, resorting to outlandish allegations will not help them as Nigerians have since seen through such old-fashioned
propaganda and gimmicks.

“We are however not surprised by this diversionary and deceptive approach from the APC government; a government whose officials have since become notorious for dishing out falsehood to Nigerians to cover their incompetence and corrupt tendencies.

“This is the same minister of information, who in a press in conference in Abuja, in 2016, promoted allegations that 55 people stole a total of N1.34 trillion; that 5 former governors stole N146.8 billion; that 4
former ministers stole N7 billion. All these have remained unsubstantiated.

While we challenge this Government to come clean on the issue of the $1bn Excess Crude money, we also challenge the minister of information
to comment on allegations that the APC funded its 2015 presidential campaign with stolen public funds, particularly from Lagos and Rivers
states.

“He should also waste no time in commenting on allegations of corruption against their former SGF, Babachir Lawal, the Mainagate and other heavy sleazes going on unabated under the current APC-led administration.”

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the APC National Leader was joined by  Governor Abiola Ajimobi(Oyo), Governor Rauf Aregbesola(Osun), Governor  Rotimi Akeredolu (Ondo),  to receive the defectors.

NAN also reports that the event coincided with the 68th birthday of Ajimobi.

“Today is very important because of the governor’s birthday. I really thank God for my friend, Alao-Akala and others for joining the APC.

“I also thank God for Folarin and Amb. Taofeek Arapaja too. This APC house is great for all of us.  I am confident that today’s massive defection into the APC has finished opposition parties in Oyo State.

“We are happy to have you in and we are proud of our party,’’ he said.

The former Lagos State governor said that the APC was the only progressive party in Nigeria and Africa, urging the people to vote APC in the 2019  election.

Ajimobi said that Alao-Akala and other defectors were the few good, intelligent and weighty people in the opposition parties across the state.

“The defection of Alao-Akala and others to the APC is  a clear pointer that opposition parties in the state were finished,’’ he said.

“ I assure you that APC is the only party in Oyo State. All that is needed now is to pick who be what and when. The PDP is dead in Oyo State”, Alao Akala said.

NAN reports that special prayers were earlier held at the Government House Mosque and Chapel to commemorate the governor’s 68th birthday. The prayer session was attended by prominent politicians, members of
the state executive council, clergies and hosts of well wishers.

Wike’s Birthday: Celebration Of Treachery, Fraud And Deceit, Says Rivers APC

The Rivers State Chapter of All Progressives Congress APC in a statement issued on Thursday in Port Harcourt the Rivers State capital described the celebration of the birthday of Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State on 13th December as celebration of treachery, deceit and fraud.

According to the party, “it is unfortunate and sad that the almighty Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State who is today the jewel and pride of the opposition political party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) doesn't know his date of birth. Though this maybe shocking to the outside world but those of us who are his close associates are not shocked a bit knowing his antecedents as a fellow who is capable of using any method whether sinister, unholy, untoward or otherwise to achieve any task he sets his mind to achieve including deceiving the world on his day of birth.”

The APC in a statement signed by its State Chairman, Chief (Dr.) Davies Ibiamu Ikanya and circulated by Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze his Media Consultant today said, “We have read several birthday messages from both his family members, political associates etc celebrating his birthday on 13th December while the documents he presented to INEC and some educational Institutions on oath indicates that he was actually born on March 13, 1963 and not December, 13th 1968 as he makes the world to believe. Sadly as if he is not contented with been born on two different days the great Google on the other hand claims that Governor Wike was born on 24th August, 1967. What a feat! An individual claiming three different days as his birthday.”

Both his age declaration form, sample of his birthday celebration and the Google’s stand are attached for doubting ‘Thomasess’.

Text of the statement reads:

According to the age declaration sworn by his elder brother, Chief Collins Wike and Clergy father and presented to INEC and some educational Institutions, Governor Wike is said to be born on March 13, 1963. This date contradicts the new age of 13th December, 1968 and the Google date of 24th August, 1967. To some funny PDP Leaders, Wike is not only a reputable leader but the embodiment of the alien democracy being practised by PDP.

In a congratulatory birthday message signed by Kola Ologbondiyan, the PDP new National Publicity Secretary, Governor Wike was described as "the jewel and pride of not only the Party and Rivers State but also the nation at large" PDP went further to hail Governor Wike for his political sagacity which had propelled the party to greater heights. It is sad that such character as Gov Wike because he has continued to waste the Rivers State funds to sponsor the activities of PDP he has become the face and hero of democracy. To us in APC, “If such a character is the jewel of PDP, Nigerians need not be told what the party PDP is made up with and what they are capable of doing, the statement signed by Dr Davies Ibiamu Ikanya the Rivers State APC Chairman stated.

The alien democracy that Wike's PDP is practicing is democracy of fraud, high-tech looting, high level of impunity and high-tech election rigging tactics as acted during her just concluded elective convention and it will be a disaster for this country if such a party is voted back to power.

It is unfortunate that Rivers State is being governed by such a character and his wife - a High Court Judge is celebrating him on National TV while knowing that 13th December is not his birthday. This is the man positioning himself as the leader of PDP, a party that was founded by some great minds like Alex Ekwueme, Solomon Lar,  Abubakar Rimi who are currently weeping profusely in their graves over the current state of the party that they put their lives on line to establish,  how is the mighty fallen. This is a man threatening that if he is not given the office of Vice President that he will scatter the party. We feel sad when some of our best brains like OCJ Okocha, SAN and former President of the NBA look upon Governor Wike as the Messiah of Rivers State.

If Wike can be involved in this type of act of not knowing the date of his birthday or rather presenting forged documents as his birthday certificate why should the world believe or accept funny documents he cooked up in order to indict an innocent man like Rt Hon Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi erstwhile Governor of Rivers State and incumbent Minister of Transportation.

To patriotic Nigerians, instead of celebrating Wike’s fraudulent birthday, Nigerians should be mourning that a man without vision who governs a State without any budgetary provision; sponsoring anti FSARS groups to allow criminals pervades Rivers State, who in the midst of plenty owes a lot of backlog in salaries to civil servants and arrears of pension to pensioners. A man well versed and notorious in embarking on low-value projects spiced up with massive media coverage. A man who has destroyed our education by recalling our students on scholarship overseas, etc, in addition to several other atrocities is today the jewel and leader of a great political party like PDP.

As much as we as a political party wish Governor Wike God's stead but we need to wait till 13th March, 2018 or August 24 2018 to formally send to him our official birthday gifts and card.

I’ll Always Work For The Growth Of PDP, Says Wike

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has declared that he will always work for the stability and growth of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) because Nigerians are yearning for the party to restore the welfare of the citizenry.

This is as PDP leaders from across the country described the governor as a man of character who is steadfast and committed to nation-building and the survival of the PDP.

They spoke on Wednesday night during a Special Birthday Service and Dinner in honour of Governor Wike at his country home in Port Harcourt.

Governor Wike said: "I will never do anything that will bring down the PDP. I will continue to work for the party to meet the expectations of Nigerians. Nigerians are waiting for the PDP to rise and salvage them.

"My advice to the new National Working committee is that you should endeavour not to fail Nigerians. Don't compromise, no matter the bait".

He stated that he is strong politically because of the nature of solid support that he has received from the leaders of Rivers State from across all ethnic divides.

The governor said that such support has made it impossible for the rampaging APC Federal Government to derail the process of development and rebirth taking place in the state.

"I will continue to work for the people of Rivers State and Nigeria because my survival and longevity are deposited in the hands of God. God has protected me over the years, despite the challenges I have faced. Every additional year is a blessing from God and a call to greater service ", Governor Wike said.

Governor Wike said that he will always stand for what is right because God has been kind to him and his family.

He said: "People should be firm and truthful at all times. I don't abandon my friends no matter the situation. If you take a bullet for me, I will take a bullet for you".

Commenting on a former governor who celebrated the 10th anniversary of a Supreme Court judgment, Governor Wike regretted the level of hypocrisy when the same man shut down courts in Rivers State for two years.

He said beginning Friday December 15, his administration will flag off the construction of new projects in Port Harcourt, Ikwerre , Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni, Abua, Ahoada East/West and Asari-Toru Local Government Areas of the state.

In his remarks, Taraba State Governor, Darius Ishaku stated that Governor Wike has done well for Rivers State and Nigeria, hence he should be celebrated.

He said that the contributions of the Rivers State Governor were significant to the revival of the PDP.

Ekiti State Governor and Chairman of PDP Governors Forum, Ayo Fayose described Governor Wike as a manifestation of courage and a hope for the down trodden.

He said: "Our association with him has yielded positive results for the country as we will continue to stand for the ordinary people ".

Senate Minority Leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio said that the people of Rivers State have every reason to thank God for the gift of Governor Wike. He said the governor has remained focused in service delivery despite the distractions.

Also speaking, PDP National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus said Governor Wike is a miracle governor that has remained focused in the service of his people and the protection of democracy.

Former Chairman of the National Caretaker Committee of PDP, Senator Ahmed Makarfi praised Governor Wike for being a committed and principled democrat who supported the committee at very critical times.

Earlier, a Birthday Service in honour of the Rivers State Governor was held at the Nyesom-Wike Family Chapel. Gospel artistes and choirs performed to the Glory of God, while Venerable Richard Okpara who conducted the service prayed for the family of the Rivers State Governor.

Ondo PDP Loses More Members To APC

The camp of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State has continued to swell as a gale of  defections hit the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

They used the medium to highlight some of the achievements of the State Governor in the local government and state at large.

While receiving the defectors, the Acting State Chairman of APC in Ondo State Engr. Ade Adetimehin, thanked the defectors for their bold steps and urged them to keep faith with the party.

“Adetimehin promised that APC will give all the new members equal rights and a level playing field to achieve their desires.

“The Acting Chairman, therefore, called on those who defected to AD and those who are involved in anti-party activities to come back to APC through appropriate channel, stressing that the greatest offence one can commit in politics is anti party  politics. Convention Fallout: Reconciliation C'ttee Will Address Grievances, Says Dickson

The Reconciliation Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has promised to address all issues and grievances arising from its just-concluded elections and national convention.

The committee said that, although the convention was a huge success, the PDP believes that, in such a magnitude exercise there must be concerns to be addressed.

The Chairman of the committee and Governor of Bayelsa State, Henry Seriake Dickson, gave the assurance during a press conference held in Abuja on Monday night.

Members of the committee include Amb. Aminu Wali, (Deputy Chairman), Chief Onyema Ugochukwu (Secretary) Sen. Joy Emordi, former Minister of State, FCT, Oloye Jumoke Akinjide, former Minister of Information, Chief John Ode, former Minister of Environment, Mr. Laurentia Mallam and former Minister of Police Affairs, Alhaji Adamu Waziri Maina.

During the event, which was the first meeting of the committee after the convention, he assured all party members and leaders that, the committee would listen to all complaints and address all issues.

The governor said that, the committee had already established contact with those concerned leaders, especially chairmanship aspirants and others aspirants to the election, who were dissatisfied or had concerns with the convention.

He said, "We have established contact already with those, who are dissatisfied, or for one reason or the other, have some issues and grievances, which is normal in an exercise such as this.

“It is not our business in this committee to a portion blame, our focus is to promote reconciliation because all party leaders and members are important. Their concerns are also very important.

“Where there are grievances it is the view of this committee that those grievances be looked into and addressed where possible."

Dickson added that, the committee would on Tuesday commence its reconciliation visits to all of them, with a view to resolving the grievances.

He said, "Generally we are pleased with the outcome of the convention. But, we have established contact already with those who are dissatisfied or for one reason or the other have some issues and grievances which is normal in an exercise such as this.

“We want to confirm to you that the effort we have made so far in establishing contact with the chairmanship aspirants; and  indeed we intend to interact with all other aspirants who purchase form, those who actually contested.

“It is our intention to engage and interact with them to find out what the challenges and issues are with a view to promote amicable solutions and better understanding within PDP family.

“We are pleased to announce that, our contact with all the chairmanship candidates was very positive. We were well received.”

He added that, in the next couple of days and weeks, people will begin to see a lot of activities in that regard undertaking by the committee.

The governor said that, the committee was at liberty to coopt other party leaders whose input would be helpful in achieving the intended reconciliation.

He said the committee was had the necessary support and encouragement of the newly elected national executive of the party.

Dickson urged all members and leaders of the party to, however, be careful of their statements, “particularly on this matters at this time.

“We don’t want a situation where comments that are provocative are made by party members, especially party leaders that, will inflame passion, be misunderstood to convene unintended meanings.

“So our appeal to all party members is to exercise caution, refrain and above all show respect to one another because at the ended we are all members of the same family and same citizens of Nigeria.

“We want to assure all our members that their concerns and grievances would be looked into by this committee", he said.
