Shehu Sani, a former Kaduna Central Senator, has advocated N100,000 as allowance to female members of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC.

Sani made the call in reaction to the increment of Corp members allowance to N77,000.

Posting on X, the former lawmaker said the allowance of female Corp members should have been increased because they suffer more.

He wrote: “The increase in the allowance of the Youth Corpers to 77k is commendable. But those of the Female Corpers should have been jerked up to 100k since they suffer more.”

The Federal Government had said the increment of NYSC allowance would take effect from July 2024.

A statement by Caroline Embu, Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, NYSC, said the increment was in line with the enactment of the National Minimum Wage (Amendment) Act 2024.

This was contained in a letter from the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission, dated September 25, 2024, and signed by its chairman, Ekpo Nta.
