The National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, has attributed the shutdown of the registration portal for Batch B prospective corps members to a technical glitch.

In a statement by its Director of Information and Public Relations, Eddy Megwa, on Tuesday, the NYSC said the portal was closed after reaching the maximum number of registrations required for the incoming batch.

Megwa apologized to prospective corps members who could not register before the portal was shut down, assuring them that the portal would be reopened for the Batch B Stream II on a date to be announced later.

The NYSC also dismissed a fake press release circulating online, which claimed that the registration deadline had been extended.

It warned that anyone caught issuing or sharing false information about NYSC operations would be handed over to law enforcement agents for prosecution.

Megwa stated, “The management of NYSC wishes to inform prospective corps members that the registration portal was shut down due to a glitch that occurred on Saturday, 8th June 2024.

“Registration by prospective corps members continued until the maximum number required for the incoming batch was reached, in line with the carrying capacity of the 37 NYSC Orientation Camps nationwide.

“The portal was subsequently shut down accordingly.

“We apologize to prospective corps members who could not register before the portal was shut down.

“The portal will reopen for 2024 Batch B Stream II on a date to be announced later.

“Criminally-minded individuals who have the penchant for issuing fake press releases on NYSC operations are warned to desist forthwith, as anyone caught will be handed over to law enforcement agents for prosecution.

“Online reporters and bloggers are please expected to confirm the authenticity of issues with NYSC before publishing.”
