Governor Babajide Sanwo-olu has rewarded the best graduating student of the Lagos State University (LASU) for the 27th Convocation, Olaniyi Olawale, with the sum of ten million naira.
WESTERN POST reports that Olawale finished from the Accounting Department with 4.98 CGPA.
Sanwo-olu made the announcement at the award of Academic and Professional Doctorate degrees and conferment of ranks of distinguished Professor and Emeritus Professor at the 27th Convocation of Lagos State University, LASU, Ojo.
The Governor who is also a visitor to the Institution, commended the Institution for living up to the expectations of the founding fathers and acknowledged its resilience, ability to produce quality Graduates to meet the manpower needs of the Country.
He called on all undergraduates to emulate good performances of the institution.
The Vice Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, who reeled out various achievements of the Institution in the last one year including infrastructural development, Education advancements, strengthened research and Intellectual drive, pledged the University’s commitment to more development through trainings and human capital enhancement.
In his opening remarks, the Chancellor of the University, Professor Gbolahan Elias, who thanked Sanwo-Olu for addressing infrastructural needs of the University and welfare of workers, called for more support from individuals and corporate organizations.
Elias urged the Graduands to be good ambassadors of the Institution and agents of positive change in the country.
The convocation had over eleven thousand graudands of Diploma, first degrees, post graduate degree,s and Master Degree, conferred eighty nine Doctorate of philosophy degrees, sixty six professional Doctorate degrees with two honorary Doctorate degrees for astute Politician, Prince Taju Olusi and an Industrialist, Dr Samuel Adedoyin for their contributions to the University, Lagos and the Country in general.
