Operatives of the Rivers State Police Command have arrested a 27-year-old man, Meshark Monday, who allegedly specializes in car theft.
Monday was apprehended by Crack Operatives of the Olu Obasanjo Division along the Olu Obasanjo Road, after the police noticed some suspicious moves, as he attempted to evade them near the G.R.A junction.
The Command Public Relations Officer, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, in a statement on Sunday, said the suspect was successfully apprehended after a hot chase.
SP Iringe-Koko said during interrogation, Monday, who works as a security officer at a Mobile Company, confessed to his crime, stating that he succumbed to temptation and stole a customer’s vehicle parked for maintenance to improve his life.
The police statement revealed that while the case has been charged to court, there was an ongoing investigation to apprehend Monday’s accomplices.
According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu urged individuals to install security cameras and alarms to prevent such incidents outside of working hours.
