The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ebonyi State has set up a five man zoning committee ahead of the forthcoming local government elections in the state.

The committee was set up after a stakeholders meeting held on Sunday.

Former senator representing Ebonyi Central, Chief Obinna Ogba, will serve as chairman while Chief Austin Umahi is the secretary.

Other members of the committee are Sunday lnyima, Prince Atta Uka Ude and Mrs Nora Oluchi Alo.

This was contained in a statement signed by APC state Chairman, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha and Secretary, Charles Chukwuma Ofoke.

The statement added: “Consequently, they (committee members) are informed that their work starts immediately. They are giving three days from 13th May, 2024 to conclude the assignment and submit their report to the party on Friday, 17 May, 2024.”

Meanwhile, the APC in Ebonyi State has commenced the sale of forms for the forthcoming local government elections.

The party pegged Expression of Interest form at the cost of N5 million while nomination form costs N20 million for the chairmanship position.

For the councillorship, Expression of Interest form is N50,000 while nomination form costs N150,000.

The party made Expression of Interest forms free for female aspirants and male aspirants who are below 39 years of age. The male aspirants are to present evidence of age declaration from any court of law.

The Ebonyi state Independent Electoral Commission, EBSIEC, has fixed July 20, 2024 for the conduct of the election across the 13 LGAs in the state.
