Former England captain Wayne Rooney has reportedly been arrested on suspicion of drink driving.
The Everton striker was stopped by police close to his home in Cheshire on Thursday night, according to the source.
He announced his retirement from international football last week.
Rooney moved to Cheshire 12 years ago and lives there with his wife, Coleen, and three children – Kai, Klay and Kit.
He signed for Manchester United from Everton in 2004 aged just 18 and, after a hugely successful period at the club, rejoined his boyhood club in Liverpool this summer.
