The Kaduna State Chapter of Congress of Northern Nigeria Christians (CNNC), has called for the intervention of the Nigerian Government in the continuous killing of innocent citizens by bandits in parts of the state.

The Congress made the call in a statement issued in Kaduna on Tuesday by its state chairman, Elder Bulus Dogara.

Parts of the statement said, “Painfully, the Congress of Northern Nigeria Christians (CNNC) expresses great sense of dismay over the recent barbaric killings of people at Kwassam, in Kauru Local Government Area and Gindin Dutse Makyali village, Kajuru local Government Area, of Kaduna State, by suspected bandits where some of the victims were burnt beyond recognition.”

The statement added that houses were set ablaze, and foodstuffs and properties completely destroyed, at a times many people are living from hand to mouth.

The Congress urged the federal and Kaduna State governments to urgently “investigate these and other killings being carried out in communities in the state and other parts of the country and ensure that the perpetrators are brought to book no matter who they might be”.

The group also called for humanitarian assistance for the victims.

“Those whose houses were brought down by the attackers should be assisted with building materials to enable them have shelter to continue with life.

“This would help in cushioning the effects of this evil act going on unabatedly against the peace loving people,” the statement added.
