The Vice President made the remarks on Monday, when he received the entire Staff of his office on a condolence visit, following the recent death and burial of his stepmother, the late Hajia Hauwa Kormi.

VP Shettima, who appreciated the visit, advised the Staff of his office to continue to work as a team to achieve more as they serve the nation In various capacities

He said: “May God usher in an era of peace and development for our nation and let us work as a team and a family because what binds us together supersedes whatever divides us. Without working as a team we cannot accomplish any goal.

“It is imperative that we bury our differences and personal animosities if there is any and look at the larger picture in the interest of the nation.”

VP Shettima also advised those serving the nation at the seat of power to always consider the interest of all Nigerians, not themselves.

“You are working at the epicenter of power in Nigeria and we are here not because we are better than our next-door neighbor. It is an opportunity for God to impact positively in the lives of our people. Therefore, let’s maximally use this opportunity to improve the lives of all Nigerians,” he stressed.

Speaking earlier, the Permanent Secretary in the State House, Olusesan Adebiyi, disclosed that the entire Staff of the State House received the news of the demise of the stepmother of the Vice President with shock.

He prayed for the repose of the soul of the deceased, who he described as a mother who invested her time in training the Vice President.

Mr Adebiyi thanked the Vice President for being a mentor and father to all of his staff.
