Residents of Gusau, the Zamfara State capital, have been left stunned after a staff member of a popular local restaurant allegedly confessed on video to being part of a kidnapping ring.

The viral footage, now circulating widely on social media, features an employee of Yan Doto Food Palace — a well-frequented eatery located near the Zamfara Government House — admitting to involvement in abductions that have rocked the Mareri area in recent weeks.

The confession has sparked public outrage and fear, with civil society groups and youth organisations calling for immediate action.

Reacting on Monday, the Zamfara State Youth Association described the development as “deeply disturbing.” Its president, Alhaji Ibrahim Abba, said the incident had raised serious security concerns among residents.

“This revelation has caused serious concern, especially considering the restaurant’s proximity to a critical location like the Government House,” Abba said.
“Many are now questioning how such criminal operations could go unnoticed for so long, right under the nose of the government.”

He called on the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services (DSS) to launch a thorough investigation and track down possible accomplices and criminal hideouts within the state.

The youth leader also urged the public to remain vigilant, especially in public places where criminal elements may be posing as regular workers or patrons.

As of press time, no official statement has been issued by the police or other security agencies.
