As the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) braces for a high-stakes National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on Thursday, key powerbrokers of the party gathered in Abuja for a closed-door caucus session hosted by the PDP Governors’ Forum Chairman and Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed.

The strategic meeting, held at the Bauchi State Governor’s Lodge, brought together five influential PDP governors — Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Caleb Mutfwang (Plateau), Ahmadu Fintiri (Adamawa), Dauda Lawal (Zamfara), and host Bala Mohammed.

Also in attendance were top-ranking national officers of the party, including the PDP Acting National Chairman, Amb. Umar Damagun, National Secretary Senator Samuel Anyanwu, and several members of the Board of Trustees (BoT).

Sources close to the meeting hinted that discussions centred on solidifying party unity, resolving internal tensions, and fine-tuning the PDP’s direction ahead of the 2027 general elections. The caucus also reviewed decisions made by the National Working Committee (NWC), which are expected to be ratified during the NEC meeting.

The party’s elective national convention was also on the table, with stakeholders expected to debate zoning arrangements, leadership succession, and the PDP’s strategy to reclaim political relevance.
