An agent of the All Progressives Congress, Samuel Ogunlokun, has expressed concern over the low turnout of voters at polling unit 061, Ward A, in the Ikotun-Igando Local Council Development Area of Lagos State.
Ogunlokun, who spoke to our correspondent during a visit to the unit, said the poor turnout was disappointing despite efforts to mobilise residents before the election.
“The turnout is not encouraging. We tried to canvass people, but they did not come out. Although there is no problem generally. This area has been very peaceful,” he said.
No voter was in sight during the period our correspondent spent at the polling unit.
Visibly frustrated by the development, another party agent present at the polling unit declined to speak when approached for comment.
The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission is conducting the elections across 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas.
