The unveiling of the 2027 opposition coalition platform will now be held at the Shehu Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja, following the sudden withdrawal of the original venue by the Wells Carlton Hotel.

Report indicated that the coalition plans to adopt the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its political vehicle for the 2027 general election.

The venue change was announced in a notice signed by Nkem Ukandu, Deputy National Secretary of the ADC.

The statement reads:

CHANGE OF VENUE ALERT

Dear Party Leaders and Stakeholders,

The coalition will today, Wednesday, 2nd July 2025, officially unveil our great party, the African Democratic Congress (ADC), as the party of the coalition.

Venue: Shehu Yar’Adua Centre, Abuja
Time: 2:00 PM

Members of the National Working Committee (NWC), National Executive Committee (NEC), Board of Trustees (BOT), and other key stakeholders and members are expected to attend.

Please note that attendance is self-sponsored.

Signed,
Nkem Ukandu
Deputy National Secretary, ADC

Although the notice did not mention reasons for the abrupt venue change, political observers and party insiders have linked the cancellation to alleged political pressure from the ruling party.

Party sources suggest the hotel’s decision to withdraw the hosting arrangement came under questionable circumstances. The hotel in question had reportedly served as a residence for the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, following his appointment last year.
