The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, on Monday disclosed how the suspended governor of Rivers State, Sim Fubara made him cry.

Wike disclosed that he wept after reviewing Fubara’s previous speeches about him.

The immediate past governor of Rivers State disclosed this during his monthly press briefing in Abuja.

Wike, a two-time governor of Rivers State, recalled how he helped Fubara to succeed him but the suspended governor turned against him.

The minister was instrumental in Fubara becoming governor despite stiff opposition from some stakeholders in the state.

But crisis broke out between the duo shortly after Fubara emerged governor in 2023.

The battle for political control affected governance in the state and President Bola Tinubu declared a state of emergency for six months, suspending the governor, his deputy and members of the state assembly.

The president also appointed a sole administrator to preside over the state.

Fubara recently visited Wike to seek reconciliation.

Speaking on Monday, Wike said: “When I go back in my quiet moments, I play the video of speeches of the governor (Fubara), what he said; what he did to me; I weep.

“Was it necessary? This was somebody who brought you, gave you food, gave you everything, did this for you, and then you became a tool for his enemies to fight him.”
