Former CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele has appealed a court ruling granting the federal government ownership of a 753-unit housing estate in Abuja.
The EFCC obtained the forfeiture order, but Emefiele argues he was not properly notified and holds legal interest in the property. He claims the court’s decision was based on hearsay and calls it a miscarriage of justice. His legal team has urged the Housing Ministry to suspend plans to sell the estate pending the appeal.
