The 2027 presidential posters of the Oyo State Governor, Oluwaseyi Abiodun Makinde, on Thursday, took over major strategic locations in the ancient city of Kano.

It will be recalled that a group, Nigeria Youths Awareness Group Makinde 2027 (NYAG Makinde 2027), while addressing the press in Kano over the weekend, stated that, given the political permutations of the 2027 presidential election, only the Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde, can move Nigeria forward.

Hence, the need for all patriotic lovers of democracy to rally around him, irrespective of political affiliations, to secure the nomination.

Speaking in Kano, Alhaji Lawal Abdullahi, National Secretary of the group, in an interactive session with journalists, declared, “We have met as different groups and have agreed to have a common front for Seyi Makinde for President in 2027. We are a moving train, and there is no stopping us until we achieve our objective of a Seyi Makinde presidency.”

On Thursday, the posters, tagged “To Move Nigeria Forward 2027”, featured a bold image of Governor Makinde.

The poster read: “His Excellency, Engr Oluwaseyi Abiodun Makinde for President, Federal Republic of Nigeria,” courtesy of the Nigeria Youths Awareness Group Makinde 2027 (NYAG Makinde).

According to a survey conducted across the city, the 2027 Makinde presidential posters were spotted along Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) and posted around the roundabout leading to MAKIA.

Additionally, at the popular Wappa area, where the former Triumph newspaper was located, the roundabout was decorated with “To Move Nigeria Forward 2027.”

Similar posters of Governor Makinde were displayed at the popular Dengi Flyover to attract the attention of passers-by.

Furthermore, the posters were placed on road pavements at the famous Kantin-Kwari Market, the largest textile market in West Africa, to ensure visibility for hundreds of traders from within and outside the region.

Many individuals who saw the posters shared their opinions on their placement, particularly in Kano.

According to Alhaji Ibrahim Usman, “There is nothing wrong with placing Governor Makinde’s posters. If he intends to contest, he has the right to run for any elective position in the country.”

Another passer-by, Alhaji Abba Muhammadu, stated, “Let Makinde declare his presidential intention; he would be a great leader because I have heard that he has performed excellently well.”

Mr John Ezekiel, who saw the posters at the Airport roundabout, remarked, “We are waiting for those interested in contesting in 2027 to declare their intention. Then, it will be up to voters or Nigerians to decide who will lead them.”

Speaking to the press in an interview in Kano, Alhaji Lawal Abdullahi, National Secretary of NYAG Makinde 2027, said, “The group has met and concluded that it will throw its full weight behind the Seyi Makinde 2027 presidential project by mobilising the entire North for him.

“We have consulted with prominent politicians and eminent personalities across the country, and we have their support. The Seyi Makinde 2027 project is a massive movement that will catch on and spread like wildfire,” he stated.

Abdullahi further assured, “We have completed all necessary arrangements. The posters, billboards, handbills, and other branded materials are ready. By next week, in-sha Allah, they will flood the entire Northern Nigeria.

“Kano, Katsina, Jigawa, Borno, Yobe, and Gombe will be awash with support for Seyi Makinde next week. Other states will follow subsequently. Our movement will take over Northern Nigeria for Seyi Makinde, after which Southern Nigeria will be visited,” he said.

Abdullahi also declared, “We have keenly followed his achievements in Oyo State and discovered that he is a focused administrator, someone committed to improving lives. He is the kind of leader Nigeria needs now.”
