Dele Momodu, media mogul and former presidential aspirant, has taken a swipe at President Bola Tinubu’s administration, saying there is widespread hardship in the country.

Speaking on newsmen, Momodu said Nigerians across the country are groaning under the weight of economic distress and governance failures, yet many political elites are decamping to the ruling party for personal gain rather than ideological alignment.

He said: “Everywhere you turn in Nigeria, people are crying. I have never seen this level of bitterness, and I hope the president is taking this criticism in good faith.

He said the current trend of defections is misleading and could be distorting the president’s perception of reality.

His words: “So I’m not sure that the president actually knows what is going on.

“If you see all the governors decamping to your party, won’t you think you are the greatest thing that happened to Nigeria? You can’t blame the man if he feels that way.”

Momodu added that defections in Nigeria are rarely based on party performance or ideology, but rather political survival.

He lamented the lack of accountability among public officeholders, particularly those who switch parties while holding elected positions.
