The Federal High Court in Lagos on Tuesday ordered the remand of three workers of the Lagos State House of Assembly in the custody of the Department of State Security Services for allegedly assaulting its officers.

The three lawmakers — Ibrahim Olanrewaju, Adetu Adekunle, and Fatimoh Adetola — were directed to remain in DSS custody pending their arraignment.

Justice Daniel Osiagor, who is handling the case, stated that he needed to review the charges before the defendants could enter their pleas.

In the charge sheet marked FHC/L/273C/2025, dated February 24, 2025, and filed on Tuesday, the DSS accused the trio, along with others still at large, of conspiring to assault officers of the State Security Service while they were performing their official duties.

The agency alleged that on February 17, at the Lagos State House of Assembly, the defendants obstructed DSS officers from carrying out their official duties without any justifiable reason.

They were also accused of cyberstalking by recording and distributing false information on social media, allegedly to incite unrest and disrupt public order.

The DSS further alleged that Olanrewaju, Adekunle, and Adetola conspired to commit a felony by deliberately misdirecting electronic messages to social media to embarrass the State Security Service and its officials.

Additionally, Olanrewaju and Adekunle were accused of using an iPhone 12 Pro Max to record and circulate false information on social media with the intent of causing embarrassment to the DSS and inciting public disorder.

The agency also alleged that on or about 17 February 2025, at the Lagos State House of Assembly, Adekunle used his Tecno POP 8 to record and share false information online to undermine the DSS and create unrest.

The alleged offences contravene Section 516 of the Criminal Code Act, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004, as well as Sections 27(1)(b), 24(1)(b), 24(c)(i), and 11 of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015 (as amended in 2024).
