The Oyo State Government has directed organizers of the funfair that claimed lives of children in Ibadan, to turn themselves in for police to avoid wrath of government.

This followed a stampede while attempting to collect palliatives at a private children’s funfair held at Basorun Islamic High School, Ibadan, leading to loss of lives while some others injured in the early hours of today.

Deputy Governor of the state, Barrister Bayo Lawal, while on the assessment visit, distance the state government involvement from the bizarre incident.

Barrister Lawal, while frowning at the arrangement of the event without the involvement of security agencies, promised that the state government will dig deep into the cause of the incident.

While assuring people of the state that government will do the needful to reduce the harm of incident, Barrister Lawal, urged parents and guidance to avoid embracing event that does not have government support.

The deputy governor who visited Adeoyo state hospital, Ring-road and private hospital where the victims were rushed to were informed by one of the doctors that only four children were brought dead.
