The party also condemned the attitude of the commissioners in Governor Ademola Adeleke’s cabinet.

The APC’s demand is coming few weeks into the midterm anniversary of the administration of Governor Adeleke.

The party in a statement by Kola Olabisi, Director of Media and Information, stated that the call for the cabinet dissolution is overdue, and aimed at injecting vibrant blood who could add substantial value in the overall interest of the development of the state.

The statement reads, “It is not out of order, therefore, to state that the cabinet of Governor Adeleke is overdue for dissolution in order to inject vibrant blood who could key into his self-acclaimed vision and effectively add substantial value into it in the overall interest of the development of the state.

“Governor Adeleke should be courageous enough, this time around, to choose his own team rather than relying on the nominees who were donated to him by the leaders of the party on mere patronage basis without considering their capabilities in terms of experience and qualifications which subsequently resulted into putting square pegs in square holes.

“It is observed that we never had it so bad in this state as some of the commissioners are redundant and obscure, not known beyond their ubiquitous appearances at social gatherings during weekends where they have the latitude to unveil their identities by the masters of ceremonies on such occasions.

“This is not the best of times for both the primary and secondary school pupils in the state who would not be able to mention offhand beyond one or two the names of the cabinet members because of the obscurity of the holders of the offices unlike what used to be in vogue.

“It is observed that some of the occupiers of the offices of commissioners and Special Advisers in the administration of Governor Adeleke have turned themselves into proverbial traditional farmers who would always use hoes as farming implements for self-aggrandisement.

“There can not be any better time for Governor Adeleke to shake his cabinet other than now as a half-time in the life of any administration is not a child’s play.”

While reiterating that the call for dissolution of the cabinet is in the overall interest of the state, the Osun APC also demanded an audit of the total number and identities of aides appointed by Governor Adeleke.

“It is our wish to also know the numbers, names and offices of other appointed aides under the designations of Special Advisers without cabinet, Senior Special Assistants and Special Assistants, in order to douse the tension of the news that some of such appointees have never been to the shores of this country let alone Osun State.

“It is the inalienable right of the governed to know the number and identities of the political appointees whose salaries are being paid through the public fund which is the common patrimony of the people of the state.

“If the governor is too busy to attend to this request, we shall be awaiting the response from the Office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) which schedule entails rolling out of such letters of appointments.

“The information is in the public domain that despite the unenviable position of the state with reference to economic graduation on viability basis, Osun State under Governor Adeleke parades the highest number of political aides among the comity of governors in Nigeria.”
