President Bola Ahmed Tinubu left Yokohama, Japan, on Thursday night for a state visit to Brazil, scheduled to begin on August 24. His Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, confirmed the development in a statement.

The President is expected to make a stopover in Los Angeles before proceeding to Brasilia, the Brazilian capital.

Tinubu embarked on his two-nation trip on August 15, departing Abuja with his delegation. The team stopped briefly in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, before arriving in Yokohama on August 18.

In Japan, the President participated in the opening ceremony and plenary of the ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9) held on August 20. His schedule also included bilateral meetings and an interactive session with Nigerians in the diaspora, which rounded off his engagements on Thursday night before his departure.
