The Naira appreciated slightly against the dollar on Thursday at the official foreign exchange market, marking its first gain since Friday, August 15, 2025.

Figures released by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) showed that the Naira closed at N1,535.78 per dollar, compared to N1,536.73 recorded on Wednesday. This represents a marginal improvement of N0.95 or 0.062 percent on a day-to-day basis.

At the parallel market, the currency remained unchanged, trading at N1,550 per dollar for the second consecutive day.

The modest gain at the official window comes as Nigeria’s external reserves rose further to $41.05 billion as of Wednesday, August 20, 2025. This marks an increase from $38.25 billion recorded on July 21, 2025.
