The Dangote Group has pledged to shoulder the medical expenses and provide compensation for Mrs. Ruth Otabor, the younger sister of Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner, Josephina Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, after she was severely injured in a truck accident in Auchi.
The incident, which occurred on Tuesday, left Mrs. Otabor with life-changing injuries, leading to the amputation of both legs. The development sparked widespread outrage on social media, with Phyna, Nollywood actress Kate Henshaw, and other public figures calling for justice and support for the victim.
In a statement released on Thursday through its official X handle, Dangote Group confirmed that the truck involved in the accident belonged to the company and expressed deep concern over the matter.

“This action reflects our unwavering commitment to the well-being of those affected,” the statement read. “We are ensuring full support for Mrs. Otabor, including comprehensive medical care and appropriate compensation, in line with Dangote Group’s welfare policy. Our thoughts remain with Mrs. Ruth Otabor and her loved ones, and we wish her a full and speedy recovery.”
The company emphasised that its internal processes have been activated to address the incident, assuring the public that all necessary assistance will be provided to the victim.
