The South-West chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party will lead efforts to unseat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections, the Gbenga Hashim Solidarity Movement has declared.
In a statement by its South-West coordinator, Abass Olaniyi, on Tuesday, the group said the PDP in the zone was on a mission to rescue the nation from the interests of a select few.
The group held that the PDP in the South-West was mobilising a credible, united, and principled force to achieve the 2027 target.
The statement read, “The South-West PDP has shown clarity, courage, and commitment to the ideals of true opposition.
“This region will lead the charge to rescue Nigeria’s democracy and defeat President Tinubu in 2027, against the wish and personal interests of a select few.

The group also flayed purported attempts by certain elements to hijack the PDP for their selfish purposes.
“The tide is now turning in favour of a value-based political rebirth.
“Those seeking to exploit the party’s internal challenges for personal gain have failed.
“Nigerians want something new, something honest. The PDP must be that alternative,” the statement further read.
The movement emphasised the need for the PDP to return to its founding principles.
It particularly called for the emergence of party leaders with integrity and ideological clarity.
“To defeat Tinubu in 2027, PDP must offer what the All Progressives Congress doesn’t have. That is integrity; that is principle.
“As the countdown to 2027 begins, the Gbenga Hashim Solidarity Movement is mobilising across the South-West and beyond to ensure the PDP emerges as a credible, united, and principled force capable of rescuing Nigeria’s democracy,” the statement read.
