A former House of Representatives member for Wukari/Ibi Federal Constituency, Shiddi Usman, says he will soon unveil his next political move following his recent exit from the All Progressives Congress.

Speaking in a telephone interview with The PUNCH on Monday, Shiddi said his resignation came after months of reflection and growing disillusionment with the ruling party’s internal direction and values.

“Since joining the APC in 2020, I have been loyal and committed. But over time, I have seen a growing disconnect between my convictions and the party’s actions,” he said.

Shiddi, who served in the 8th and 9th National Assembly, gained national attention for his legislative activism and grassroots mobilisation, particularly in southern Taraba.

He contested the Taraba South senatorial ticket under the APC in 2023 and was widely tipped to win, but a bitter internal dispute led to a court battle between him and Senator David Jimkuta over the party’s ticket.

Though initially recognised by the party, Shiddi was later removed from the ballot after the Supreme Court ruled in Jimkuta’s favour, a verdict he described as “a miscarriage of justice” and a betrayal of the people’s will.

“I defeated former Governor Darius Ishaku of the PDP in almost all Local Government Areas, yet internal party chaos and court decisions robbed the people of their choice,” he lamented.

Now rallying support ahead of the 2027 elections, Shiddi said consultations are ongoing, and he remains committed to championing justice, accountability, and the aspirations of his people.
