A frontline governorship aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Senator Mudashiru Husain, has described the newly formed opposition coalition as a gathering of political opportunists and disgruntled elements with no clear ideology or developmental agenda.

In a strongly worded statement released to journalists on Sunday, Senator Husain, who formerly represented Osun West Senatorial District and served as a Federal Commissioner with the National Population Commission (NPC), said the coalition was nothing more than “a sinking ship filled with recycled politicians driven by personal ambition, vengeance, and a desperate bid to stay politically relevant.”

According to him, the fragile alliance of opposition elements poses no real challenge to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whose administration, he said, continues to make significant progress in governance, reform, and development across the country.

“The so-called coalition is a theatre of political desperation — a ragtag of failed politicians and has-beens, united not by vision but by bitterness,” the statement read. “It’s an alliance stitched together by spite, not solutions. Nigerians are no longer moved by their theatrics.”

Senator Husain argued that the Tinubu administration had shown courageous leadership in the face of global and local economic challenges. He pointed to the removal of fuel subsidy, unification of the forex market, reforms in the digital economy, massive infrastructure drive, and targeted social investment programmes as proof of President Tinubu’s commitment to long-term national growth.

“This administration is not perfect, but it is reform-driven and people-focused. President Tinubu is gradually fulfilling his campaign promises, and Nigerians can feel the impact — from student loans to cash transfers and security reforms,” he said.

He added that unlike the opposition coalition, which he likened to “a snake shedding its skin but still venomous,” Tinubu’s policies are anchored on substance, not empty rhetoric.

Senator Husain warned that the same politicians who once betrayed public trust while in office should not expect Nigerians to suddenly see them as defenders of democracy.

“Their alliance is for optics, not impact. Their mission is self-preservation, not national progress. But the people are wiser now. They know who is working and who is merely talking,” he stated.

The APC chieftain declared that President Tinubu remains unfazed by the coalition’s activities, and expressed confidence that the Nigerian people would reward his performance with another term when the time comes.

“The opposition can continue to gather under different banners. But if all they bring is noise, bitterness, and personal vendetta, they are no match for the progressive tide sweeping through Nigeria.”
