The Ogun State Government has come to the rescue of 19-year-old Temilola Adediran, who delivered triplets at Sacred Heart Hospital, Lantoro, Abeokuta, after her partner abandoned her upon learning of the multiple birth.

Temilola, who was preparing for her Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) before the unplanned pregnancy, miraculously delivered the triplets naturally without a Caesarean section. Her situation drew public sympathy after reports revealed the father of the children fled the hospital, leaving her with mounting medical bills.

Responding to the outcry, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Adijat Adeleye, led a delegation to the hospital on Thursday, settling Temilola’s medical expenses and presenting cash gifts for the newborns. Other mothers in the maternity ward also received support.

“We are here because Governor Dapo Abiodun is deeply committed to the welfare of all children in Ogun State, whether they have parents or not,” Adeleye stated. “Seeing this young mother and her triplets today is nothing short of a miracle.”

The commissioner assured Temilola of continued support, emphasizing that the state’s assistance extends to long-term empowerment programs to help her build a sustainable livelihood. She also praised the hospital’s medical team, led by Dr. Arifalo Olawole, for their exceptional care.

Governor Abiodun’s intervention highlights his administration’s focus on vulnerable groups, reinforcing his pledge that “no child in Ogun State will be left behind.”
