Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, immediate past national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has congratulated Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe on his emergence as the new national chairman of the ruling party.

In a statement signed on Friday, Ganduje described Yilwatda’s emergence as “strategic”, noting that it comes at a defining moment in the party’s history.

The former Kano governor expressed confidence in the “capacity, intellect, maturity, and administrative competence” of the new chairman to steer the APC toward greater stability and unity.

He commended the APC National Executive Committee (NEC) and other organs for conducting a transparent and consensus-driven process that led to the emergence of the professor of engineering.

Ganduje urged Yilwatda to consolidate on the gains made under his leadership, just as he said he had built on the legacy of his predecessor.

“I have no doubt that Prof Yilwatda will move our party forward. His emergence at this critical time is a strategic development for the APC,” he said.

He also expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima for what he described as their maturity and far-sightedness during the transition.

“Our president and vice-president have once again shown leadership in guiding the affairs of our great party,” Ganduje said.

He called on the National Working Committee (NWC), NEC, state chapters, youth and women wings, and all party stakeholders to give Yilwatda their full support, stressing that unity, discipline, and loyalty must remain the foundation of the party.

“As I bow out with a sense of fulfilment, I wish to assure Prof Yilwatda of my unflinching support, counsel and brotherly solidarity,” he said.

Ganduje also urged all APC governors, lawmakers, and members nationwide to back the new chairman in building a progressive and inclusive platform for all Nigerians.

He pledged to remain available for guidance and reaffirmed his dedication to the APC’s growth and the country’s democratic development.
