Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF), Senator Hope Uzodinma, has said that consultations are still ongoing regarding who will replace Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Briefing journalists after a closed-door meeting with fellow APC governors in Abuja on Wednesday, Uzodinma noted that the final decision will rest with the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC).
“It would be premature for anyone to speculate at this point. Consultations are still ongoing,” the governor stated, dismissing widespread rumours about an imminent announcement.
According to him, the meeting formed part of broader efforts to consolidate the party’s internal cohesion ahead of Thursday’s NEC gathering.
“This meeting was part of our regular consultations among governors and key stakeholders, aimed at strengthening the party’s programmes and ensuring effective governance as the ruling party,” Uzodinma added.
He further disclosed that the governors will meet with President Bola Tinubu ahead of the NEC session, which is scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday.
“Tomorrow by 2 p.m., the NEC of our great party will convene to discuss matters crucial to the future of the APC and, more importantly, how best to serve Nigerians,” Uzodinma said
