President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has dismissed the ongoing moves by opposition politicians to form a coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections, describing them as “political internally displaced persons (IDPs).”

The president made the remarks on Wednesday during a one-day working visit to Nasarawa State, where he commissioned several developmental projects.

In his words:
“Do not be swayed by the noise of coalition groups; they are political internally displaced persons. Don’t pay them any attention,” Tinubu said.

The comments come amid reports that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, and other prominent politicians have been holding consultations on forming a united front to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the next election cycle.

President Tinubu, who was warmly received by Governor Abdullahi Sule and other dignitaries, urged Nigerians to focus on his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda and not be distracted by what he called the political antics of displaced opposition figures.
